Your team knows when something is wrong. The fake smile isn't fooling them, and even worse it's destroying their trust in you.

When you tell the truth, two things happen: your people step up, and the weight you've been carrying alone finally lifts.

You're also robbing your people of an opportunity to help, learn, and be proud. Imagine how you would feel as an employee, if the owner of the company shared with you a tough time that the company was going through, trusted you to help, and you delivered.
