So I talk about culture being a superpower and people ask, well
So I talk about culture being a superpower and people ask, well, what does that mean? I'll give you an example...
We had just over 24 people in our company, and we had a culture by default. It was defined by the loudest people in the room because we never defined it ourselves.
Definitely not the same values that me and my co-founder had.
Then we discovered this concept of defining a culture. About being intentional about your values, mission, and vision. So we went through an exercise, where we worked with everyone at the company to define the culture together, and to come up with the values, the mission, and the vision.
We then rolled out the culture, and we were relentless with it. We talked about it all the time, we piblically recognized people who were living the values, and most importantly we told anyone who wasn’t able to live the values that they could leave.
We lost half our people, half our people inside of a year. Nearly all of them left the company on their own.
So we were down to 12 people. Those 12 people were able to do 2x the revenue - we went from $3m to $6m in revenue with half the amount of people.
And the only difference is that those people had the same values and they matched what the company was. They believed in the mission, and they were excited about the vision.
That's all took. That team became a laser beam, and that laser beam got us the growth that we always wanted.
